About Teresa

Teresa and Socks

I specialize in encouraging individuals, couples, and families to address relationships and overcome crisis & trauma in their lives. I desire to help you recognize that your fears and concerns are normal; that you can seek ways to cope with things that have happened to you or around you. I seek to assist you to learn to recognize where your expectations differ from what has actually occurred.

With over 20 years' experience as a marriage and family therapist, and as a graduate of Colorado Christian University trained in Christian Clinical Counseling with special training in responding to Crisis & Trauma, I have had the opportunity to see multiples of people recover from trauma that has occurred and to more appropriately respond to future crisis that may occur. I am EMDR trained. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is a process that allows a person to reprocess situations to allow him/her to deal more effectively with the experience. Research has shown that emotional reactions can remain in the physical and emotional realm, and EMDR has proven to help in these areas and mitigate responses. I volunteer as a Disaster Relief Chaplain. I currently work as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients in a private practice in Northglenn, Colorado.

In addition to being an experienced relationship therapist, I am a Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC). I believe that addictions have touched most people and that this influence affects how we react to crisis & trauma. I have a history of presenting at different conferences on a variety of topics, with a large emphasis on women and how they handle life's issues including relationships and communication.

I am an interactive, eclectic therapist who desires to tweak the therapeutic relationship to best serve you and your needs. My approach is to provide support, practical feedback, and skills training to help you effectively address life's challenges and changes. I combine complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I seek to help you build on your strengths and attain the personal growth you are committed to accomplishing.
